I posted another comic on unwinnable.com! If you loved the last one you might like this one, I guess! Actually, I think it’s an improvement, if only because I now have a MASCOT!

I was trying to whip something up, because we all know self-insertion is tiresome and self-indulgent (unless Paul Auster does it, of course!), but I wasn’t coming up with anything, then I realized Stu already kind of had a mascot, although it’s actually a pie-stealing bird from King’s Quest 5 or something… Good enough! Gross him up like Bill The Cat and call it a day!
Also, I don’t wanna play it off like I’m the master of perspective drawing, actually I kind of suck at it! That’s part of the reason why I drew the School of Athens, for PRACTICE! Also, it woulda been pretty cheap just to cut and paste a famous work of art in there and call it a day. But wait, isn’t that exactly what I did in panel 3? Well, I could’ve drawn a version of The Thom Yorke Wedding, but I probably would have ruined the joke by correcting the perpective because I RULE at 1-point perspective!
Anyway, because I scanned and phinked the stuff an unnecessary 300 ppi, here’s a close-up with a comparison to the Raphael original!

ALMOST IDENTICAL!
You know, for years I wondered what that cover art was supposed to be, and then I found out it was a detail from The School of Athens and I’m still confused. I mean, OK, it’s an interesting figure, but why the shitty airbrush job? Surely if Axl wanted to insert himself into a Raphael painting he could have hired some post-Raphaelite to paint him in instead of having Duff McKagan do it or whatever the fuck they did.
Also, I want to make it clear that I do not endorse Dire Straits. I mean, “Sultans of Swing” is pretty cool I guess, but I HATE “Money for Nothing”, and I had the stupid riff going through my brain while I drew that panel. I’m not sure/don’t really care what the “real” definition of “butt rock” is, but the term comes to mind whenever I hear that song. I think of aging rockers in relaxed-fit Levi’s doing mid-tempo rump-shake to that godawful Sega CD guitar tone.
Anyway, here’s a pic of water on my window screen that looks like Tetris pieces, enjoy:
